This page explains what Monica AI collects when you use the site and the chat, why it is collected and how you can control it.

1. Who we are
Monica AI operates the website at monica-im.com and the companion chat experience offered through it. This notice explains what we collect, why we collect it and what you can do about it.
2. Scope of this notice
This notice covers the Monica AI website, the companion profiles and the chat service. It does not cover third-party websites you reach through links placed by advertisers or partners.
3. Age requirement
Monica AI is available to adults aged 18 and over only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone below that age, and accounts found to belong to minors are closed.
4. Information you give us
This includes the email address used to create an account, any display name you choose and the content of the messages you send to a companion.
5. Information collected automatically
We record technical data such as browser type, device type, approximate region derived from IP address, referring page and timestamps of visits.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies keep you signed in, remember interface preferences and help us measure aggregate traffic. You can remove or block them in your browser, though some parts of Monica AI may stop working.
7. Chat content
Messages exchanged with a Monica AI companion are stored so that the conversation can continue where it left off. They are not published, sold or displayed to other members.
8. Why we process data
We use data to run the service, keep accounts secure, respond to support requests, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations.
9. Legal grounds
Depending on your location we rely on performance of a contract, our legitimate interest in operating a safe service, your consent where required, and compliance with law.
10. Payment information
If a paid option is offered, card details are handled by the payment processor. Monica AI does not store full card numbers on its own systems.
11. Service providers
We work with hosting, analytics, email delivery and fraud-prevention providers. They act on our instructions and may only use data to deliver their part of the service.
12. International transfers
Data may be processed in countries other than yours. Where that happens we use recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
13. Data retention
Account data is kept while the account is active. Chat history is kept until you delete it or close the account, after which it is removed on our regular deletion cycle.
14. Security measures
We use encryption in transit, restricted internal access and routine review of our systems. No online service can promise absolute security, and we do not claim to.
15. Your access rights
You may ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you and information about how it is used.
16. Correction and deletion
You may correct inaccurate details or ask us to delete your account and associated data.
17. Objection and restriction
Where local law allows, you may object to certain processing or ask that it be limited while a dispute is resolved.
18. Portability
You may request your data in a structured, commonly used format where that right applies to you.
19. Withdrawing consent
Where processing is based on consent you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that already took place.
20. Marketing messages
Promotional email is optional. Every message includes an unsubscribe link and unsubscribing does not affect service notices.
21. Automated interaction
Companion replies are generated by software. No decision producing a legal or similarly significant effect on you is made automatically.
22. Third-party links
Some pages contain links operated by other companies. Their own notices apply once you leave Monica AI.
23. Do Not Track signals
Browsers send these signals inconsistently, so we do not currently respond to them. Cookie controls remain available to you.
24. Children's content
Content depicting or suggesting minors is prohibited across Monica AI, and any account attempting it is closed immediately.
25. Data breach handling
If an incident affects your personal data we will notify affected users and the relevant authority within the timescales required by law.
26. Complaints
If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to the data protection authority in your country of residence.
27. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as the service develops. The date at the top of the page always shows the current version.
